THE WORKSHOP ANNOUNCES GROUND BREAKING FOR NEW FACILITY
HOBART, WI – The Workshop and Bayland Buildings, Inc. are excited to announce the official groundbreaking of a new basketball and training facility located at 652 Centerline Drive, in the Town of Hobart, WI. Bayland Buildings, Inc. of Green Bay was selected as the general contractor for the new facility.
The Workshop will be home to Work Some More Training & Team 1848. Bayland will be constructing a 13,230 SF facility that will provide training year-round. The new facility will also feature a weight room owned and operated by Dan Hall-owner of Linkage along with his staff.
"This means everything to me. I want to see these young athletes succeed. I want to see them grow into well rounded human beings on and off thecourt. I am here to help them reach a potential they didn't know they could and get them into schools to compete at the next level getting an education that some of them might not otherwise have access to. In order to take care of business on the court, I am teaching them how to take care of business off the court. I want to be a positive influence on each and every kid that walks through our doors. I want them to know that I am, and our gym is a safe place for them to develop into young adults and be positive members of society. I want them to see that it is possible to do great things if you work hard. Our main goal is to put Green Bay back on the map in the grassroots/AAU basketball community. We are really trying to develop athletes here to get more respect and recognition which in turn means more kids coming out of our program with scholarships and kids getting an education after high school.” Stated by Harry Boyce.
Harry played basketball at Green Bay East High School and went on to play for University of North Dakota before transferring to Minnesota State University Mankato. He went on to play professionally for 9.5 seasons, playing in China, Canada, Dominican Republic, Mexico, Egypt and Germany. He has since retired from playing to be closer to family and continues to spend his days in the gym. Now instead of being coached, he coaches and helps athletes develop skills from age 5 all the way up to the professional level.
"The ultimate goal for the program is to continue to create opportunities for kids who might not otherwise get the chance. The more scholarship opportunities we have, the less burden there is on parents, grandparents or guardians. We would love to be competing at a high enough level and have sponsorship/partnership opportunities that fees are covered for all of these athletes."
Ground breaking will be taking place on Monday, October 5th. The estimated completion of construction is Spring 2021.
The Workshop
Work Some More offers individual training sessions for entry level, basic, and advanced basketball skill instruction. Work Some More camps focus on fundamentals, attention to detail, work ethic, basketball IQ, and a disciplined progression through skill levels. It is the philosophy of WSM that athletes who love the game of basketball should have detailed and disciplined instruction of the skills needed to improve as an individual player and as a team player. Players must have a foundation of how to execute skills, when to use their skills in game play, and have an understanding of WHY their skills and game time decisions make them the most effective basketball players. And above all else, it’s imperative that players learn that to succeed in anything, they must continue to Work Some More.
