MANITOWOC - Wisconsin is known as America's Dairyland, and now there is a new facility to celebrate and educate the people in northeast Wisconsin about our strong ties to the dairy industry.

It's called the Farm Wisconsin Discovery Center, and hundreds gathered to celebrate the near completion of the building on Monday afternoon.

"We hope that they leave with an appreciation for agriculture, a better understanding of how food is produced," said Julie Maurer from the Farm Wisconsin Board of Directors.

The $13 million dollar building was created to be a tourist destination in Manitowoc, for people of all ages to experience the passion behind Wisconsin farmers.

"They'll board the bus and tour a neighboring dairy farm to see a live operating farm in action, they'll get an opportunity to visit the birthing barn," said Maurer.  "We expect to have 2 to 5 baby calves born here on site day, and that's miraculous."

On the second floor, a 10,000 square foot area boasting interactive exhibits that teaches everything from dairy, to crops, and careers in the industry.

A building that will educate a new generation of farmers in the heart of America's Dairyland.

The grand opening for the public will be on the weekend of July 28th.
