HILBERT, WI - A cheese company is growing in the area.

Thiel Cheese upgraded its Hilbert facility to help increase production.

The project cost $12 million.

Production is expected to increase by 40 percent.

Thiel Cheese is owned by the Irish Dairy Board, which has businesses across the United States that ship products overseas.

"Some of these customers are global entities that we're already selling to in Europe and other continents and ultimately having bricks and mortar here on the ground, having an innovation team on the ground allows us to continue to grow our business with those entities," said Neil Cox, president of IDB's U.S. Food Ingredients.

The Irish Dairy Board bought Thiel Cheese back in 2011. It employs 135 people in Hilbert.
