PLOVER, WI - Owners of the new Culver's restaurant in Plover say they plan to open the business in February, and are hiring staff.

A groundbreaking ceremony was held Monday morning at the site of the new restaurant, 1805 Plover Road. Co-owner Leah Trzebiatowski said the restaurant is tentatively scheduled to open on Feb. 21, and will have about 45 employees. She added that hiring for some of the positions with the restaurant has started, and will continue through the end of the year.

Leah and her husband, Russ, also own two Culver's restaurants in Stevens Point, on North Division Street and on Highway 10 East. The Trzebiatowski's will co-own the new restaurant with their son, Reed Trzebiatowski, and his wife Molly, along with their niece Sarah Zdroik and her husband, Shane Drechsel.

"We got into it about 22 years ago. We were store No. 10 back in 1993 when we opened the first one on Highway 10," said Russ Trzebiatowski, who added that there are now around 560 Culver's restaurants across the country. "We've been looking at the Plover market on and off for some time, and we thought this was the right opportunity."

Richard Holden, community development manager for the village of Plover, previously said the new building would be 3,982 square feet. Bayland Buildings of Green Bay is the general contractor for the project.

Culver's will be at least the third major fast-food franchise to move into the Plover Road/County Highway B corridor in recent years. The restaurant will be located just east of Arby's, 1825 Plover Road, which opened June 4. Dunkin' Donuts, 3005 Village Park Drive, opened in 2012.
