ALGOMA, WI - Officials from Algoma School District, the city of Algoma, and Kewaunee County gathered on a snowy Wednesday morning at its elementary school to officially break ground on a series of renovation projects and additions. Construction crews wasted no time getting to work after the district's $4.86 million referendum overwhelmingly passed in Algoma last Tuesday. With several thousand square feet of additions to build and aging mechanical systems to replace, superintendent Nick Cochart is excited to get the project underway.

Cochart says construction crews will focus on work away from the existing structure until after the school year ends in June.
