New wellness center grand opening at Algoma High School
Bellin Health and the Algoma School District have teamed up to create a brand new wellness center at Algoma High School. The grand opening, ribbon cutting ceremony, and open house are taking place tonight. Leaders started this initiative to spark a movement toward getting healthy in the Algoma community.
Algoma school superintendent Nick Cochart said, "Algoma is changing, and it's a good thing. We're looking at our community and saying we have some challenges with health and wellness, and we want to fix that."
Pete Knox, Executive Vice President with Bellin Health, said, "The wellness center is an important community asset that helps support everybody in the community become healthier."
The wellness center is free to Algoma School District students and staff. Everyone else in the community can join for twenty dollars a month.
